For the unfamiliar, this episode follows protagonist Jesse as he fights a powerful enemy and explores the ‘icy unknown’. It uses Telltale’s textbook mechanics, forcing the player to make hard decisions that will impact the outcome of the story. The second season will be broken up into five episodes, each unfolding the plot dynamically. This time, Telltale is also introducing a ‘Crowd Play’ feature, which lets friends vote on decisions via a mobile device.
Nintendo Switch Release
Additionally, Telltale will release the first season of Minecraft: Story Mode on the Switch. It debuts in North America on August 22 and will come to Europe on August 25. Naturally, it’s in the form of ‘The Complete Adventure’, which offers all eight episodes in one place. Here’s Telltale’s Scott Butterworth’s description: “You’ll embark on a perilous adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond. While attempting to enter EnderCon and meet Gabriel the Warrior, Jesse and friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, forcing Jesse to set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone in hopes of saving the world from oblivion.” Unfortunately, there’s been no official confirmation of Season 2 on the Switch yet. However, creative communications head Job Stauffer did give a hint: “It wouldn’t be unheard of if more of our series also made it to Switch; we love the platform,” he told GameSpot. “It’s kind of perfect for what we do. All of our games are the same on mobile as they are on consoles. And for a mobile console [like the Switch] it’s pretty awesome.” It seems very unlikely that Telltale would leave Switch owners with one Season, but it will likely depend on how well the first one sells.
